Mattel continues its bounce-back plans with new chief commercial officer

Mattel has taken a new step to unifying its global commercial organisation with the appointment of a new chief commercial officer.

The toy maker has promoted Steve Totzke to the position where he will report to Ynon Kreiz, Mattel’s chairman and chief executive officer.

“Over the past several months, we have been executing our strategy to restore Mattel to its position as a high-performing toy company,” said Kreiz. “Maximising our commercial capabilities around the world is central to this strategy. With the alignment of all global commercial operations under Steve, we have the leadership structure required to succeed.”

As chief commercial officer, Totzke will directly manage a unified global commercial organisation for Mattel, working closely with Kreiz as well as Richard Dickson, Mattel’s president and chief operating officer. Totzke will be responsible for driving continued commercial excellence for Mattel by maximising retail partnerships and expanding its e-commerce concepts.

Totzke has held a variety of leadership roles within Mattel over the last 20 years as well as serving as a vice president with SPin Master from 2000 to 2002.

“I am excited by Mattel’s direction under Ynon’s leadership, and by the clear momentum the company is exhibiting, particualrly in our key power brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels,” said Totzke.

“I am looking forward to working closely with Ynon and the team to further strengthen Mattel’s global commercial excellence.”
