Warner Bros and Bandai America have partnered for a range of new products based on the upcoming Godzilla movie.
Bandai will release a range of action figures and play sets inspired by scenes from the film whilst NECA will provide gifts and nolvelty products,
“We believe that our new theatrical film brings a bold new take on Godzilla that will energise and mobilise fans on a worldwide basis and like never before,” said Joel Chiodi, executive vice president, theatrical marketing at Legendary Entertainment.
“This licensing program is an augmentation of the filmed entertainment experience, and while it will rally the powerful base, Godzilla the movie will introduce a whole new generation of fans to this franchise.”
Alongside the Bandai and NECA products, Jakks Pacific is bringing consumers a selection of large scale figures whilst Sideshow Collectibles is creating authentic statues.
“With an impressive and long-standing legacy that is known universally across all formats and multiple generations, Godzilla is one of the most iconic monsters to ever hit the silver screen,” said Brad Globe, president at Warner Bros. consumer products.
“As the ‘King of Monsters’ prepares to take the world by storm, we are working with our licensing partners on behalf of Legendary to create products that bring to life the spirit of epic adventures and imagination captured by this much-anticipated film.”
Completing the line-up of Godzilla products are apparel from Bioworld, t-shirts by Trevco and costumes from Rubie’s.
Godzilla smashes its way into UK cinemas in May 2014 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen and Juliette Binoche. It is being directed by Gareth Edwards whose last film was the 2010 indie hit Monsters.
