JDG lost to T1 and was eliminated from the Worlds 2023, the LoL world championship. Shortly after the result, the coach Homme announced that will take a break from competition in 2024.

The statement came from Homme himself on Weibo, a Chinese social network. He highlighted that everyone worked very hard and, even with the elimination, he recalled that JDG won three titles in 2023.

I should have done better today. I did poorly, so we lost the series. All our players worked very hard. I’m sorry for LPL fans’ expectations of us. I hope there are more people rooting for JDG in the future. Next year I will temporarily leave the competition. And it’s a shame that we eventually don’t get a perfect ending. But this year we won 3 titles, so please don’t be so sad!

A JDG in 2023

JDG could become the first team in LoL history to win the Grand Slam, that is, win every tournament they participated in. The team won both seasons of the LPL, MSI and Homme managed the players in all of these titles.

At Worlds 2023, JDG arrived as the favorite for the title. They finished 3-0 in the Swiss Stage and had little trouble beating KT Rolster in the quarterfinals. In the semi-final, they lost 3-2 to T1.

T1 na final do Worlds 2023

There was even an LCK narrator crying over the victory of the team, the last representative of the region.
