The Last of Us 3 exists and already has a solid concept for Naughty Dog to follow, according to Neil Druckmann. The main name behind the franchise revealed the information during a new documentary about the saga.

According to the franchise director, The Last of Us 3 is still in the conceptual phase, but it should become reality. Druckmann highlighted that “there is probably one more chapter” to the story of the main series, which received a TV adaptation last year at the hands of HBO.

Neil Druckmann highlighted that he was happy with the ending obtained in The Last of Us 2, which would be a satisfactory conclusion to the plot of Ellie, Joel, Abby and other characters. The director and screenwriter explains that spent years looking for a “concept” to explore in the possible The Last of Us 3but now he has an idea to pursue the new project.

A new theme for The Last of Us 3

During the documentary, Druckmann explains that The Last of Us 1 has a story centered on unconditional love involving parents and children. In the next game in the franchise, the theme ends up being different: revenge and its motivations.

Druckmann explains that he now has a “concept” that is as exciting for The Last of Us 3 as the other two games. The game’s story has not yet been conceived, but he promises that the title will continue to be connected with the other two projects in the saga.

“For years I couldn’t find this concept. But recently that changed, and I don’t have a story, but I have this concept that, to me, is as exciting as 1, as exciting as 2,” said Neil Druckmann. It’s “its own thing, and yet it maintains a connection of all three. I feel like there’s probably one more chapter in this story.”

The story of The Last of Us 3 has not yet been written, but the game already has a concept to follow.

So far, we have no more official details about The Last of Us 3. In other words, a possible release window is far from confirmed, as the project is still in its early stages.
