Taking advantage of International Gamer Day, which is remembered this Tuesday (29), Spotify released a survey showing the players’ favorite songs. According to the streaming platform, the favorite genre of those who enjoy a little game is new wave.

In the playlists created with the gamer theme in 2023, rock appears in second place among the main genres, followed by soft rock (3rd), new romantic (4th) and synthpop (5th).

According to Spotify, there are currently more than 13 million game-themed playlists. Brazil, which is the Latin American country that most consumes this type of content, has already created 362,000 playlists.

Worldwide, Brazilians just don’t create more video game playlists than Germans and North Americans.

Around here, music streaming users from the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Paraná were the ones who created the most playlists about games.

Favorites songs

New wave, which is a subgenre of pop, is the highlight among Brazilian players from bands like Tears for Fears and a-ha. Both bands from the 80’s have several classics beloved by several generations.

The favorite music of the players, including, is Take on Me. The song is played in several big games like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Sleeping Dogs, Rock Band, Call of Duty: Warzone, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy e The Last of Us Parte II.
