After years of countless requests from fans, Ubisoft has finally decided to invest in Feudal Japan with Assassin’s Creed Codename Red — historical era that has already served as the background for several renowned games, such as Ghost of Tsushima, Onimusha and so many others. The good news here, however, is that the new game in the franchise arrives until March 2025, according to the publisher itself.

The information came through Ubisoft’s most recent fiscal report, where the publisher confirmed that the sequel will be released in the 2025 fiscal year — a window that refers to April 2024 and March of next year. Furthermore, We also had confirmation that Star Wars Outlaws arrives this year.

“Going forward, we are preparing for a very promising schedule for fiscal year 2025,” said Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot. “Including the launch of Star Wars Outlaws em 2024, […] especially given the undeniable appeal of this legendary franchise, which will arrive in the open world for the first time, as well as Assassin’s Creed Codename Redset in the highly anticipated universe of Feudal Japan.”

“We look forward to revealing the full extent of the creative capabilities of the teams at Ubisoft, who are working hard to make these games a success that lives up to gamers’ expectations.”

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will begin “phase three” of the franchise

Announced in September 2022, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is being produced by Ubisoft Quebec, the same studio as AC Odyssey. The new game will begin what the publisher calls “phase three” of the saga — although further details have not been released so far.

Perhaps this so-called “phase three” is related to the periods and different scopes of the games in the series, which has sold more than 200 million copies since its debut in 2007. For example: from the first game to AC Syndicatewould refer to the first phase — more linear games with a focus on narrative.

Already from AC Origins until AC Valhalla it would refer to a second set, this one focused on open-world experiences and exploration. This “phase three” that Ubisoft refers to may have been introduced in AC Miragewhich returned to the roots of the saga, also betting heavily on the linear narrative and the stealth.

Clear, This is just speculation on our part — but stopping to think about this line of reasoning, it makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

“We will announce the dates a little later, but we wanted to mark a technological and gameplay change as we move into the PS5 and Xbox Series generation,” explained Marc-Alexis Cote, responsible for the franchise, in an interview with VGC in 2022.
