Those who play on PC always have an eye on the best performance. However, in some cases it is common experience crashes in matches, a problem known in the community as stuttering.

Although it is not something that makes your machine unable to run the game, it is certain that stuttering greatly disrupts the experience. However, the good news is that there are ways to fix this problem and enjoy your Call of Duty or any other game without any problems. Check out!

What is stuttering?

In general, we can translate the word stuttering as “choking”. This way, when the player experiences the problem in a match, they see the action on the screen freezing, skipping what is seen in a few seconds.

Despite being a relatively common problem, no one wants to be chased by this ghost. Therefore, below we present some ways to try to identify what causes this failure and what can be done to correct it.

How to solve the stuttering problem?

One of the first ways to try to solve stuttering in games is by locking the frames per second (fps) rate. You can choose between 30 or 60 fps, activating V-SYNC to synchronize the computer’s frame rate with the monitor’s refresh rate.

If the problem still persists, check out some other solutions below:

Update your graphics drivers

The first tip is something that should always be part of your routine: Check if your video card drivers are up to date. New driver versions often include optimizations that can improve performance and fix stuttering issues.

Adjust graphics settings

Reduce the game’s graphics settings if you are not up to date with your hardware. Decreasing this parameter can reduce the load on the graphics card and improve overall game performance.

Check hardware temperature

Overheating can lead to performance issues, including stuttering. Make sure your hardware components like CPU and GPU are not heating up too quickly.

In addition to the tip above, cleaning dust from components is a way to help in the fight against stuttering. However, it also serves to allow good air circulation inside the equipment, as fans and other parts tend to get dirty faster.

Disable background programs

One of the main performance villains is leaving several programs running at the same time. This is common when talking about slower computers, as RAM memory is greatly affected in this regard.

Close all unnecessary background programs that may be consuming system resources such as real-time antivirus, streaming programs, etc.

Check CPU and GPU Usage

Use monitoring tools to check whether your CPU or GPU is overloaded while you play. If one of them is reaching 100% usage, it may be an indication that it is causing stuttering.

Update the operating system

Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest security fixes and performance updates. This practice, in fact, brings several benefits to your PC in general.

Check the integrity of game files

If you are playing on PC, check the game for corrupt or missing files. This can be done through the distribution platform (Steam, Origin, etc.) you are using to play. If necessary, download the game once again.

Consider game-specific optimizations

Some games may have specific settings or patches that help resolve stuttering issues. Check to see if any updates are available for the game in question and download these files as soon as possible.

Update the hardware

If your hardware is outdated and can’t handle the game’s requirements, it might be time to consider upgrading to more powerful components.

One of the most important elements in this sense is RAM memory. Currently, the ideal is for machines to have 16 GB to run games without problems, creating a dual-channel with two 8 GB sticks. However, this is not the reality in many cases.
