25 years of Dino Crisis: remember Capcom’s classic horror game

Affectionately called “Resident Evil with dinosaurs” in the 1990s, Dino Crisis is arguably one of the greatest classics of the PS1 era. Fans have been clamoring for a Dino Crisis remake for years

It’s no secret that fans of Dino Crisis Capcom has been asked to develop a next-gen remake for years — and it seems the Japanese giant is well aware of this, to tell the truth.

In February of this year, the company conducted a survey to better understand the preferences of its audience around the world. When asked which property of the house players most want to see a sequel or a new game, the response from more than 80 thousand fans came loud and clear: Dino Crisis.

That’s almost 20,000 more votes than the runners-up — Mega Man e Devil May Cryrespectively. When asked which individual Capcom game they liked the most, the dinosaur game came in second, amid DMC 5 and the remake of Resident Evil 4. Yes, there is demand!

Meet Dino Crisis

If for some reason you don’t know, know that Dino Crisis was released by Capcom in 1999 for the PlayStation 1 and is a survival horror game. The title mixes elements of action and adventure in a tense and scary atmosphere.

Developed by the same creators of Resident Evil, The game replaces biological weapons with dinosaurs of all sizes and species. Here, players control Regina, an agent of a task force sent to a remote island to investigate a research laboratory.

The plot involves a scientific experiment that went wrong and ended up resulting in the reanimation of dinosaurs that now roam freely around the facility. Like a good survival horror in the best style. Resident Evilplayers must also solve a series of puzzles and manage extremely scarce resources.
