New benchmarks show that the new NVIDIA RTX 5050 outperformed the RTX 3060 and performed nearly on par with the previous-generation RTX 4060. The tests were conducted by Inno3D, a Hong Kong-based GPU maker that shares a parent company with Zotac.
The tests were published on Weibo and the person who highlighted them to the West was the user @haruzake5719 , from X, formerly Twitter.
The RTX 5050 is NVIDIA’s entry-level 50-series graphics card, with just 8GB of GDDR6 and a maximum TDP of 130 watts. Announced last week , the card arrives at the end of the month.
Test results

Inno3D’s tests show that the RTX 5050 outperformed the RTX 4060 in several 3DMark tests, including Steel Nomad, Speed Way, Port Royal, Fire Strike Ultra, and Fire Strike. The RTX 4060 scored better in two tests, TimeSpy Extreme and TimeSpy, but the advantage is less than 10% .
The company then ran benchmarks on four games, and while the RTX 4060 outperformed the new GPU in every title, the FPS numbers weren’t that far off .
The overall results show that gamers on a budget will get an entry-level 50-series GPU that performs nearly as well as a previous-generation high-end GPU.
On the other hand, for RTX 4060 or even RTX 3060 users, the RTX 5050 may not be an upgrade . It’s designed for those using older GTX 10- or 16-series GPUs, or entry-level RTX 20-series graphics cards.
RTX 5050 Announcement

The RTX 5050 was announced last week and costs just $249, allowing gamers on a budget to buy the RTX 50-series family for 1080p gaming. The price is much more affordable than the RTX 5090 , which costs $28,000 .
While the RTX 5060 also has 8GB of VRAM, it uses GDDR7 and has more CUDA cores for better performance. It also has an MSRP of $299, and there’s a strong case for add-in card partners to offer their variants at higher prices.
The RTX 5050 competes directly with the Intel B580 , which was released in December last year, and is priced the same. However, the latter has 4GB more VRAM and a wider 192-bit memory bus. The RTX 5050 has a 128-bit memory bus.
NVIDIA has a near monopoly on the GPU market , and with the launch of the RTX 5050, it could undermine AMD’s strategy of being aggressive on pricing .
On Intel ‘s side , the B580 is an attractive alternative due to its larger VRAM. For users willing to save a little more, an alternative could be to get a 16GB RTX 5060 Ti.
In short, it’s so hard to compete with NVIDIA that other good options to NVIDIA’s card are older models from the green team .
