Challengers 2024: Riot Games presents stages, calendar and changes

A Riot Games announced this Friday (20) a presentation about the competitions of Challengers for 2024. Furthermore, the developer is expected to announce more details in the coming weeks.

O Premier will have a deep integration with the Challengers and more information is expected in November. Additionally, Riot has prepared a more extensive calendar.

This means that the competitions will take place in two distinct stages, starting in January. Furthermore, the teams that stand out in the competitions qualify for the VCT Ascension which takes place in September.

The season begins in January, with most leagues holding Open Qualifiers, and the competition progressing to a knockout round.

Challengers 2024 changes

Partnerships between Tier 1 and Tier 2

One of the most significant changes is the introduction of affiliate partnerships that allow teams from international (Tier 1) leagues to collaborate with teams from the Challengers and Game Changersto create joint business opportunities.

Bilateral Players

Allowing bilateral players. Sometimes substitute players on international teams don’t get many chances to play, which prevents them from gaining experience in important competitions.

Now, with the introduction of bilateral players, these players will have the opportunity to compete on affiliated teams, in Challengers and Game Changers tournaments.

Player loan

From 2024, teams from different parts of the world will be able to share players with each other. However, that player will no longer be able to play for the original team until the loan ends.

These loans are not limited to teams, with special partnerships, so many different teams can participate in this.
