For a long time, the industry’s eyes were focused on that specific window at the beginning of June, which served as the stage for E3 — the “largest games fair in the world”. However, time passed and the event lost more and more space and importance, especially for the big gaming brands.

Well, after years of uncertainty, the bill finally arrived: ESA (the organization responsible for the show) confirmed to the The Washington Post that E3, once considered the “largest games fair in the world”, is officially closed — that is, it will not have any more editions in the coming years.

Over the years, E3 has become synonymous with high expectations, also serving as the stage for the unveiling of iconic consoles such as the original PlayStation and Xbox. However, the format became increasingly outdated and financially unsustainable for large publishers.

Summer Game Fest has become the new E3

However, the period at the beginning of June remains firm and strong, this time under the command of Geoff Keighley, creator and presenter of Summer Game Festwhich replaced the veteran E3 and became the main games showcase for a few years now.
