Xbox: new generation will have successor to Series X and portable Steam Deck style

We’re still in the middle of the current generation, but rumors about the next one are already in full swing on social media. After the first speculations about the Switch 2 and the PS6, which will supposedly be focused on backwards compatibility and will once again have an AMD chip, now it’s the turn of the Microsoft — which is already working on the successor to the Xbox Series X|S and a portable device in the best Steam Deck style.

According to the report published by Windows Centraljust like it was in the current generation, Microsoft would be planning to release two versions for the next consoles again. While one of them is a traditional home device that will serve as a kind of continuation of the Xbox Series X, the second device would be a portable – further reinforcing other recent rumors.

There’s no word yet on the specs of either device — assuming, of course, that’s what Microsoft plans for the next generation of devices. However, given the growing popularity that wearable devices have been gaining in recent years, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the American giant taking its first steps into this market.

Microsoft is “building plans” for the 25th anniversary of Xbox and Halo

In a recent interview with License GlobalXbox Consumer Products Chief John Friend spoke on a variety of topics related to licensing and merchandising for the brand — citing some success stories like the Xbox series Fallout on Prime Video, the film Minecraft starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black and more.

In one of the excerpts of the interview with the executive it was also revealed that Microsoft is already “building plans” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first Xbox and the franchise Halo — which takes place on November 15, 2026.

“We have these huge, fantastic franchises that range from World of Warcraftwhich is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, until Halo, Call of Duty, StarCraft and more,” Friend said. “We are also building plans for the 25th anniversary of Halo and Xbox. We have such a rich heritage and history, and these communities have been active for so long, you have to celebrate that.”

With the news of the 25th anniversary celebration, journalist Jez Corden, responsible for the report on Windows Central, theorizes that the announcement of the new generation of Xbox may occur at that time. Nothing about the upcoming consoles has been officially confirmed yet, so treat the text with caution.
