Dying Light: The Beast is the newest game in this zombie franchise, which will come within a few days. For this new title, the team has no ambition to create a deep and philosophical narrative similar to games like The Last of Us, but to give players a playground to have fun.

Commenting on the subject, director Tymono Smektala says they are not trying to be “The most ambitious series narratively”but focus on the gameplay of the game so that players have fun. In a matter of narrative, the focus is on delivering characters that mark the players, but without necessarily making the most complex story in the world.

“It’s much easier for us – and somewhat significant – expanding and growing on the gameplay side. I don’t think we need to be the most ambitious series in terms of narrative. I think what we need to do is deliver striking characters facing difficult challenges where the plot has its twists, but we really don’t have to be overly philosophical.”

For the director, a very serious proposal would not work well for Dying Light. For The Beast and the future franchise games, he hopes to continue playing games that are mainly about a “Very cool gameplay and cool characters”.

“We don’t really need to be questioning the players about morality and all these things. We’re playing games that are, first of all, about a really cool gameplay and cool characters. I think something excessively serious doesn’t work for Dying Light as a series, so I believe we will continue on this way. It makes more sense to us.”

Dying Light: The Beast It will be released on August 22 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
