Warzone will return to its roots in Black Ops 6, studio confirms

Black Ops 6 promises to bring a series of exciting new features to fans of the franchise — and if you enjoy battle royale, you will certainly be happy with this news. During the presentation of the latest Call of Duty NEXTa Activision revelou that the Verdansk map will return to CoD: Warzone next year.

If you’re not familiar, Verdansk is the original map of Warzone which has no longer been accessible since 2021 — the year in which it was replaced by Caldera. In March 2025, Activision’s battle royale will complete five years of existence.

As announced no Call of Duty NEXT Last Wednesday (28), the classic map will join the recently announced Area 99, a smaller stage with faster gameplay in the best Resurgence style.

“This spring [outono brasileiro]we will celebrate five incredible years of Warzone” said Raven Software Senior Director of Communications Stephanie Snowden. “On behalf of all of us who worked to bring the experience to life Warzone every day, thank you for playing. It seems only right that to celebrate this milestone, we have to go back to our roots.”

It is worth remembering that when Black Ops 6 is released, Warzone will also receive a series of updates, including the addition of new mechanics, as well as all weapons and most of the game’s equipment.

The open beta of Black Ops 6 will include eight “all-new” 6v6 maps, as well as new weapons and gadgets to enjoy. It’s worth remembering that it will also be possible to earn several rewards that will be transferable to the full game when it launches on day one on PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.
