Tomb Raider tabletop RPG cancelled due to “creative differences”

Evil Hat Productions has announced the cancellation of its Tomb Raider tabletop RPG due to “creative differences” with its licensor. The project, which promised adventures inspired by the popular franchise, did not align the publisher’s vision with the brand’s demands.

The statement was released on Evil Hat’s product page. According to the company, it was not possible to establish common terms with the licensor. Therefore, it made the decision to part ways and, consequently, abandon the game.

Sad news: we are canceling the Tomb Raider RPG project. Due to creative differences, we were unable to align our vision with that of the licensor, so we have decided to part ways.

The brilliant team that created this game has put a lot of effort into making this an exciting and dynamic exploration and adventure RPG.

Despite the end of the licensed project, the mechanics will be reworked for a new independent game with an original setting, ensuring that the work is not lost. More details will be revealed soon by the company.

Another Tomb Raider project shelved?

The end of the tabletop RPG is just more bad news about Lara Croft in recent months. Recently, sources in the television industry suggested that Amazon had abandoned adapting the franchise into an original series. Click here to learn more.
