When composing a character in the main video game franchises, developers go through several stages such as origin story, motivations and narrative, up to the unique design. This is all part of creating an iconic character, which captures the attention and affection of players.

However, there is another element that also deserves to be highlighted in this process. Dubbing can be a determining factor in many cases and choosing voice actors with voices that fit well with the characters is essential.

And over the years, many of these artists immortalized their voices in works that went down in history. Below, remember some of the most famous voice actors and stay tuned: some of them will be present at Brasil Game Show 2023. Enjoy!

Guilherme Briggs

To start the list, we need to talk about one of the most iconic voice actors in Brazil. With a resume full of films and series, including animations and live-actions, Briggs has voiced characters such as Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story), Freakazoid and Cosmo (The Fairly OddParents).

In the gaming field, Briggs voiced Superman in Injustice: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2, with a very attractive build for one of DC’s greatest heroes of all time.

Hermes Baroli

Like Briggs, Hermes Baroli also has a wide range of work in film and television. He became well known for voicing Seiya in several productions in the Knights of the Zodiac franchise, including some games in which this character appears. It’s a voice we could never forget, right?

Luiza Caspary

Born in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Luiza Caspary has a spectacular career and beautiful work in the field of accessibility, especially in audio description. In addition to having lent her voice to numerous advertising campaigns in digital games, she was responsible for voicing Ellie, from The Last of Us.

Luiz Carlos Persy

Still talking about The Last of Us, it is worth highlighting the participation of voice actor Luiz Carlos Persy, who gave voice to the character Joel. However, this was not Persy’s only opportunity in the gaming field, as he also acted in League of Legends voicing Gangplank and Warwick; in God of War: Ascension, as Zeus, and also in Overwatch, playing Doomfist.

Marco Ribeiro

Here we have another Brazilian voice actor who is very famous and beloved by fans. Marco Ribeiro began his career at the iconic Herbert Richers studio, lending his voice to several incredible characters. In games, he was very notable for his participation in Halo: Reach, from 2010, in which he voiced Emile. He was also responsible for the voice of Tony Stark in Avengers and Marvel’s Iron Man VR.

Kenny James

To talk a little about international voice actors, you can’t help but remember Kenny James’ work in the Super Mario franchise. Responsible for the iconic, evil and incredible Bowser, James actually made his debut in 2005’s Super Mario Strikers, replacing voice actor Scott Burns.

With a very different trajectory from other colleagues in the field, as he served in the United States Navy for many years, his first work came in the musical field as a vocalist in rock bands. However, in 2004, she had the opportunity to voice Bowser and never looked back.

Charles Martinet

To close the list, we need to talk about another iconic voice actor from the Super Mario franchise. Charles Martinet has already voiced Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi and also Toadsworth in several Nintendo games. With more than four decades in activity, he has countless characters to his credit, whether in animations or games.

He also lent his voice to the character Parthurnaax, in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, in addition to being part of the dubbing team for Super Mario: The Movie (2023), in which he was responsible for the narration of the feature film and the voice of the Father of Mario.

Meet Charles Martinet and Kenny James at BGS 2023

If you enjoyed remembering the careers of these voice actors, know that some of them will be present at the Brasil Game Show, the biggest gaming event in Latin America, which will take place between the 11th and 15th of October, at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo.

In this year’s edition, voice actors Charles Martinet and Kenny James are some of the main guests and will be available to talk and interact with participants, as well as being part of the judging team for the event’s cosplay contests.

It is also worth highlighting that BGS 2023 will promote a meeting between Martinet and James with the Brazilian voice actors of Mario and Luigi, respectively, Raphael Rossato and Manolo Rey.

The event will also pay tribute to Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of Tetris, with the Lifetime Achievement award, which on other occasions has even received Hideo Kojima, from Metal Gear.
