Last week, Superman’s official debut took place in theaters around the world. As expected, the feature is doing well, becoming the third largest debut weekend box office in 2025.
Detailing, Superman with David Corenswet raised $ 122 million on its US debut weekend. In the international market, the film earned $ 95 million in 78 countries, totaling $ 217 million globally.
So far this year, Superman has been behind only Minecraft: the film ($ 162 million) and Lilo & Stitch ($ 146 million), taking into account only the US.

“This is an exceptional domestic debut. If there is any weakness here, it is in the international market,” says David A. Gross, who directs film consultancy Franchisere. “Superman has always been identified as an American character and, in some parts of the world, the United States is not currently enjoying great popularity.”
Warner Bros. And DC Studios bet loudly with Superman, which cost about $ 225 million to produce and another US $ 100 million to promote. This is the first title of the relaunched DC universe, which needs to work out to boost future projects like Supergirl and Clayface.
Superman received favorable criticism, with 82% approval at Rotten Tomatoes and “A-” in Cinemascore, indicating good public acceptance.
