After launching Sifu, a game full of punching, the studio Sloclap decided to bet on something totally different: Rematch, a soccer game where each player has an important role to play in the match.

Pierre Tarno, creative director of the game, said he was aware that many Sifu fans were disappointed from the studio not released a sequence. The director also believes they could have dealt with the Rematch revelation, as the initial trailer may have caused a misunderstanding.

“Some fans of Sifu were disappointed when the new game was revealed, and we regret it. As the revelation trailer started dryly, with something like ‘from Sifurs’, many thought ‘ok, Sifu 2 coming’. I apologize for this misunderstanding, because we should, from the beginning, have warned the Sifu community that we were about to announce a new title- “So that they would not create this expectation and not be disappointed.”

Still, the Credita studio that provided great post-launch support for Sifu, feeling that it delivered everything it had to offer with the game. “This does not mean that the game will never return, but Sloclap has decided that ‘for now, it was better to let him rest'”he commented.

Tarno also cites a big problem in the industry: the fact that fans want studios to always make the same kind of game. After releasing acquittal and sifu, the easiest way for the studio would certainly be to launch another action game, but they wanted to try something different.

“We have a great opportunity to follow creative projects for which we are in love, and few developers have this chance. It’s really very rare for those who develop games. And I believe the players and the media also realized that although they are not exactly the same, [os jogos] They are all third -person action. All are grounded, believable, albeit epic, focusing on bodies, movement and physicality. There is a lineage between the titles – to acquit Sifu and now Rematch – and it was the experience gained with the first two games that allowed us to create this new one. ”
