After countless rumors took over the networks in recent weeks, Sony finally revealed the long-awaited PS5 Pro, the company’s new console that will come with generous firepower to play next-generation games. The announcement took place this Tuesday (10), during a “technical presentation” orchestrated by the device’s chief architect, Mark Cerny.
The PS5 Pro will be released on November 7th this year for US$699.99 — something around R$3950.04 in direct conversion and without taxes. The availability date in Brazil, as well as the official price in reais, have not yet been revealed by the Japanese giant.
What’s new in the PS5 Pro compared to the Fat and Slim models?
Well, with the reveal of the new console, many must be wondering if it is worth upgrading from the previous models to the Pro version. If you need some guidance to make the decision, Voxel separated some of the new features of the PS5 Pro compared to the Slim and Fat. Check it out below!
PS5 Pro technical aspects
Well, right off the bat One of the most important aspects of the PS5 Pro is a new triad of firepower that will take the device to new heights — both in resolution and in processing and frame rate. Check it out:
- Updated GPU — The PS5 Pro GPU has 67% more Compute Units than the current model of the console, as well as 28% faster memory. Overall, this set will allow the console to render images up to 45% faster, making the experience much smoother for players.
- Advanced Ray Tracing — As for ray tracing, the PS5 Pro will be even more powerful and will provide more dynamic light reflection and refraction. This allows rays to be cast at double, and sometimes triple, speeds compared to the current model.
- AI-driven upscaling — Confirming previous rumors, Sony also revealed the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which is the Japanese giant’s answer to image enhancement technologies such as Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR. PSSR will feature AI-driven upscaling that uses machine learning-based technology to deliver super-sharp image clarity, which will consequently add an “extraordinary” amount of detail.

PS5 Pro price compared to other models
As revealed at the technical presentation event, The PS5 Pro will cost $699.99. The price in Brazil has not yet been revealed, but in direct conversion and without taxes it gives an average of R$ 3950.04 — but certainly expect to pay much more than that. There is speculation that it could arrive here for around R$7,000..

Well, it’s an unreasonably high price if we put the Fat and Slim models in the running. While the first can be found in retailers for R$3900, the second can cost between R$3600 (model without reader) and R$3850 (model with reader).
Well, it’s a notable price difference — and it doesn’t seem like the new model offers options that actually justify the upgrade. We’ll just have to wait for the first technical analyses to draw any conclusions!
Relevant information
Vale remember that the PS5 Pro will not come with a disc drive — but you can buy one separately for approximately R$600. Therefore, if you are one of those who prefer physical media, consider that you will have to spend even more money to have this option.
As for other technical aspects, the PS5 Pro will have a generous SSD with 2TB of space, as well as Wi-Fi 7 (which will be available in territories that support this standard), support for VRR and even 8K gaming.

The device will come with a DualSense controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed. Of course, the new console is also compatible with the entire family of this generation — including the PS Portal, DualSense Edge, PS VR2 and several other official gadgets.
Currently, the boxes for the Fat and Slim models also include a DualSense, as well as two games — which may vary depending on the bundle, but it is quite common to find options with Returnal e Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Games will receive updates to suit the PS5 Pro’s firepower
Finally, it’s worth remembering that, to handle all the processing power of the PS5 Pro and its features, several games (both from PlayStation Studios and partner studios) will receive updates to run according to the device’s needs. The list includes the following names:
- Alan Wake 2
- Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
- Demon’s Souls
- Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
- Gran Turismo 7
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- The Crew Motorfest
- The First Descendant
