Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a true encyclopedia of games, as it has a varied cast with characters from different famous franchises in the industry. Well, certainly many other popular names are not there, but an independent developer found a way to create his own version of Nintendo’s brawler.

Created by solo developer Code Hunter, Project Ualso known as Project Ultibyteis a free 2D fighting game inspired by Super Smash Bros. And the cast is one of the great strengths here: you can expect characters from different franchises, from Pokémon e Sonic until Castlevania e Mortal Kombat. Check out the project trailer:

“Still in progress, Project U aims to capture the essence of classic arcade and console games, mixing nostalgia with intense combat and correctly configured for each character”, says the project description on the official channel, also warning that “many surprises are on the way”.

The release date, however, has not yet been announced. – but will be available for free on PC when this happens.

Project U has a diverse cast with characters from different video game franchises

One of the coolest things about Project Uwithout a doubt, is the gigantic amount of characters available to enjoy, since it is a game that really unites all tribes. Here, you will be able to play with Sonic, Mario, Donkey Kongseveral fighters of Mortal Kombat e Street Fighter, Pokemon, Mega Man, Zelda and much (much) more.

As it is an independent project, what really caught our attention Project U is its gameplay, which seems extremely satisfying. Code Hunter managed to bring very solid fighting mechanics to the project, with extremely concise blows and animations.

Considering that the game takes on different art styles, such as pixel and 3D characters, the developer really did a great job of balancing things out in a way that doesn’t look all over the place on the screen.

It is worth mentioning that Project U will have three game modes: the first is the Crusade Modewhere you can fight in a room with up to six players. The second is the way onlywhich will have a variety of options for just one player. Finally, there will also be the online modewhere you can challenge other fighters to a sincere fight.
