Viral games are gaining more and more space not only in video games, but also on the big screen. After adapting to Five Nights at Freddy’s to the cinema, now it’s time to Poppy Playtime win a live-action horror film.

According to the Deadline, developer Mob Entertainment closed a deal with entertainment company Legendary, after receiving “several competitive offers” for the production of the feature. The producer of TransformersDon Murphy, and filmmaker Susan Montford will be responsible for developing and producing the live-action film.

In a statement (via IGN), Mob Entertainment co-founders Zach Belanger and Seth Balanger, CEO and CCO, respectively, stated that the intention with Poppy Playtime It’s always been about “inspiring and entertaining” people.

“We have always dreamed big and are thrilled to have created something that has captured the hearts of tens of millions of people around the world,” said the co-founders. “This agreement is a logical next step in the growth of our transmedia entertainment company.”

Meet Poppy Playtime

In case you don’t know, Poppy Playtime is a first-person horror adventure game in which players take on the role of a former toy factory worker who returns to his workplace — which is now abandoned.

As players explore Playtime Co., they must solve several intriguing puzzles while escaping from the hideous Huggy Wuggy, the monstrous toy that is hidden in the factory — and the main “culprit” for the game’s popularization.

The base version of Poppy Playtime is free to play on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, Android and iOS. However, the developer has released some additional chapters that players can purchase to continue the adventure.

Since the release of Chapter One in 2021, the franchise has become quite popular in video games, social media and marketing around the world. With around 12 million players across all platforms, the game has also expanded to the land of Roblox.
