It was exactly on December 10, 2020 that Microsoft and The Initiative officially announced the return of Perfect Dark with a new game in development.

The game was in development for years until at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, Microsoft shared the first gameplay video of Perfect Dark, which undoubtedly looked very good.

However, today with the cancellation of Perfect Dark, a journalist from Kotaku noted that this video released at the event was actually fake, although he did not go into specific details.

One user tried to get more information and questioned the journalist with: “Define fake. Sometimes certain things need to be glossed over to speed up delivery when they are not yet fully ready. This may or may not mean that the project as a whole is in a terrible state.”

Then the journalist replied: “It is not indicative of the level of progress that is believed to have been achieved in the game.”  Remembering that rumors about problems in the game’s development have been circulating for years.

For example, last year, journalist and insider Jeff Grubb claimed that Perfect Dark was in a complicated state. And it doesn’t seem to be taking shape since it was announced.
