Developing a game costs a lot of money and takes time, and even Nintendo is aware of it. Now the Japanese company is planning ways to shorten development periods to compensate for high costs.
Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, highlighted in a call with investors that game development is more expensive and time consuming, increasing the risks of the business.
Therefore, the company plans to adopt shorter development periods for some games, maintaining the news and appeal for consumers. Titles such as Welcome Tour and Drag X Drive can fit the deeper development cycles strategy.
“Recent game production has become larger and longer in duration, resulting in higher development costs,” Furukawa explained. “The game industry has always been a high -risk business, and we recognize that the increase in development costs has increased this risk.”
“Our development teams are elaborating a variety of strategies to maintain our traditional gambling approach, even with the increase in scale and production time. We believe it is important to make the necessary investments for more efficient development. We also believe it is possible to create games with shorter development periods that still provide consumers a sense of novelty.”
Nintendo seeks ways to preserve its traditional gambling approach, even with the increase in the scale and duration of projects.
During the same call, concerns about the cost of Nintendo Switch 2 were also addressed, which can make children access to the console.
