Responsible for consolidating one of the most iconic libraries of the 90s, the Nintendo 64 (N64) revolutionized 3D graphics at the time, innovating the polygons that were already present in its predecessor Super Nintendo in games like Star Fox. Furthermore, multiplayer never but it would be the same, with games supporting up to 4 simultaneous players.
Now, celebrating the legacy of the N64, Analogue — a company known for releasing new versions of classic consoles — announced Analogue 3Da modernized version of the N64. Maintaining fundamental features, such as the use of cartridges and four control inputs, Analogue 3D offers a series of improvements that we will detail below.
What is Analogue 3D?

Analogue 3D is an updated version of the N64, with support for modern televisions, including support for 4K resolution. Unlike emulators and other official game re-releases through backwards compatibility, Analogue 3D allows players to use original N64 cartridgesenjoying visual fidelity without losing the essence of classic games.
One of Analogue 3D’s biggest differences is its compatibility with cartridges from all regions in which the games were released. This feature is especially attractive to collectors and retro gaming enthusiasts, as many titles were restricted to certain regions. Therefore, it is not necessary to make modifications to the console to access games from different parts of the world.
Furthermore, the design (a little lower than the official console) features four control ports, providing an authentic multiplayer experience, just like the original model.
Technological Evolution with a Classic Touch

One of the main criticisms of the N64’s original control was the fragility of its joystick, which, over time, tended to become loose and lose precision. With this in mind, Analogue entered into a partnership with 8BitDo, a company recognized for the quality of its controls, to develop a modernized wireless version of the classic control.
Although the design is not identical to the original (which includes patent issues), the new control features a similar arrangement of buttons. Furthermore, the accessory uses Bluetooth technology and the joystick with HALL Effect, which guarantees greater durability and precision.
Another advantage is that the new controls can have their firmware updated directly when connected to the console, something that was unthinkable at the time of the N64. This way, players will always have the most recent version of the controller, with corrections and possible improvements.
Price and Availability
Analogue 3D is available for pre-order, with the official launch scheduled for later this year. The suggested retail price is US$249.99, with black and white color options. The wireless controllers, manufactured by 8BitDo, will be sold separately for US$39.99 each.
If you are a fan of the Nintendo 64 library and want to relive the classics on a modern TV, this is an excellent opportunity, as Analogue 3D promises a nostalgic experience with visual improvements that were not present on the original console.
