IGN has published nine minutes of Mafia’s exclusive gameplay: The Old Country, focused on the Villa 5 section of Chapter 5. This content is part of the Mafia Mondays series, a weekly series that will reveal, throughout July, several new materials related to the new Mafia series. Next Monday, IGN will bring the first Hands-On Preview.
The excerpt now revealed shows Enzo Favara, the protagonist, to explore a luxurious Sicilian villa in the early twentieth century. The section enhances moments of infiltration, NPC interactions and small combat. The environments have a high level of detail, with special emphasis on the lighting and architecture of the time and the interior design.
Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel of the first game in the series, after several decades before Lost Heaven’s events. The plot follows Enzo, a young sulfur mines worker who ends up getting involved with the criminal family Torrisi in San Celeste. The game is being produced by Hangar 13, in collaboration with Stormind Games, a Sicily -based studio, which aims to ensure a more authentic representation of culture and historical context.
The game is being produced using Unreal Engine 5, which allows more realistic graphics, dynamic lighting and scenarios with a high level of detail. The gameplay maintains the character’s characteristic film structure of the series, combining history sequences with exploration and action.
