Round2 Models and Auto World have released a cool die-cast metal car replicating the “hot rod” car of the American pop band The Monkees and their television series, which originally aired from 1966 to 1968 and won 2 Emmy Awards.
The Monkeemobile The Monkees 1:18 Scale Die-Cast Metal Vehicle reproduces down to the smallest detail one of the most desired custom cars on television from the 60s.
The Monkeemobile was created by car customizer Dean Jeffries, and began life as a 1966 Pontiac GTO before being chopped, tuned and distorted! Its original design featured a massive 6-71 supercharger fitted to the exposed engine, giving the car so much power that the TV cast found it difficult to control. This configuration was later reduced to a simulated supercharger mounted over the engine.
Two Monkeemobiles were built – #1 was used in the TV show, while #2 was built as a backup car and stunt car. Its main role would be to race the 1960s show car circuit around the US. Life-size stand-ups of the four Monkees traveled with the display car and were displayed alongside the car.
The Monkeemobile Die-Cast Metal Vehicle has red paint with a white roof and Monkees graphics, detailed engine, steerable front wheels, detailed interior, opening doors and hood. Furthermore, the set also comes with 4 “Prefab Four” cutouts.
The car, in 1/18 scale, is made from die-cast metal and has been officially licensed by the band The Monkees.
The Monkeemobile The Monkees 1:18 Scale Die-Cast Metal Vehicle costs US$104.99 on pre-order from Entertainment Earth, which accepts orders from Brazil.
