Several Microsoft employees were arrested due to protests, carried out at the company’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, United States, against its contracts with Israel.

According to Theverge, at least 18 company employees occupied the main square at Microsoft headquarters to make the protests. “No Azure for Aparthe” says the police decided to intervene on the second day of protests, with the operation resulting in one more trapped person.

Redmond police claim that members of the protest group vandalized Microsoft signs with red ink, tried to create barriers with chairs and tables that stole, and tried to block a pedestrian passage. Authorities also say that the first day of protests was peaceful, but on the second day some became aggressive, which led it to act.

People who are in the protests have talked to Theverge to say that Microsoft employees and former employees have come together in this group, named “No Azure for Apartheid”, with several people taken by police over the second day of protest.

The group specifically criticizes Microsoft contracts with the Israel government around the use of cloud technologies, which are allegedly used to help Israelite forces in their confrontation against Hamas.
