Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company is “thriving” by all objective metrics, despite recent cuts of jobs that have affected thousands of employees.
In a letter to employees, Satya Nadella addressed job cuts, describing them as difficult decisions that affect colleagues, friends and team members.
CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the company’s view of advancing in the area of Artificial Intelligence, covering research, analysis and programming.
“Our total employee count is relatively stable, and some of the talents and expertise of our industry and Microsoft are being recognized and rewarded at levels never seen before. And at the same time, we have undergone layoffs.”
“Imagine if all 8 billion people could summon a researcher, an analyst or a finger -tipped program agent, not just for information, but to use their expertise to do things that benefit them,” wrote Nadella.
“Consider how IMA -capable organizations could unlock totally new levels of agility and innovation by turning decision making, optimizing operations, and allowing each team to reach more together than ever before.”
Microsoft recently announced cuts of 9,000 employees, one of the most aggressive layoffs rounds in its history.
The games division was affected and projects like Perfect Dark and Everwild reboot were canceled, and The Initiative studio was closed.
