One of the greatest video game classics of the PS2 era will finally have a version for the new generation. Presented at a PlayStation event last year, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the remake of the acclaimed MGS 3 and is being developed by Konami itself — although the original creator, Hideo Kojima, is not involved in the project.

Although it maintains the main features that helped establish the classic, such as story, voices, music and gameplay, the remake will offer fans some new features and improvements. Before continuing to explore what the remake the Metal Gear Solid 3 has to offer, check out the new trailer released at last Sunday’s Xbox Showcase (09) below!

Below, check out all the news released by Konami about the game, which has not yet had a release date announced.

Modern but also classic controls

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will have a new “more modern” control style. While not explicitly detailed on the game’s official website, it is mentioned that the feature will allow players to “focus entirely on the game and the immersive thrills of the survival stealth experience.”

Of course, the original controls will also be part of the package and promise to recreate “the same feeling of playing the original”.

Improved graphics and injury system

Another great business card from Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, without a doubt, are the graphics of reimagination. Those who played the classic on PlayStation 2 were probably enchanted by the look.

The remake is being developed based on Unreal Engine 5, featuring huge levels rendered with cutting-edge technology. The new graphics bring even more life to the thicket of jungles, forests and swamps, bringing unparalleled detail.

Characters are rendered in such fine detail that facial wrinkles, pores, and even separate eye and iris movements can be seen, allowing for facial animations that faithfully express the character’s emotions.

Additionally, a scar system will faithfully represent all battle damage suffered by Snake. This includes clothing wear, as well as bruises and gunshot wounds, all represented in real time. All damage will leave a permanent mark.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will also have a new camera option

Finally, Konami is also preparing new camera options for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Just like in the original PS2 game, where it was possible to have a bird’s eye view of the entire situation, now players will also be able to play with a third-person over-the-shoulder perspective at times.

The official website suggests that both camera options, both classic and modern, will be available for players to choose from during gameplay. With this, both the classic audience and new players will be able to enjoy the game the way they prefer.

When will the game be released?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, although the date has not yet been officially revealed by Konami. The official estimate is that the game will be released in 2024.

During Summer Game Fest, the GameStop store ended up letting details about the game’s pre-sale slip out. According to the company, the game will be released on November 17th, a Sunday. However, so far, Konami has not officially commented on the matter, which makes the date unofficial.
