Kojima Productions' OD is still underway with Xbox Game Studios

Developer Kojima Productions just released Death Stranding 2: On the Beach , so now the studio must be gearing up to focus on its next project, which is “OD” (exact name unknown).

Microsoft recently laid off around 9,000 employees, including many from its Xbox gaming division, and canceled several projects, including Perfect Dark and Everwild. There was speculation that OD might have also been canceled, but reliable sources indicate that the project remains active, at least for now.

As reported by Windows Central , Hideo Kojima’s OD game is still in development in partnership with Xbox Game Studios. OD is a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Jordan Peele.

“A lot of second-party projects were also canceled. These are games developed by external teams but funded and published by Xbox. We found out that Romero Games’ upcoming shooter was being funded by Xbox, and its cancellation basically spelled the end of the studio.”

“The fate of other games remains uncertain, as many have been revealed and in some cases have been completely absent for years. But I can confirm that at least one of these projects is still alive, for now, which is OD.”

The game is described as a horror title that utilizes Microsoft’s cloud technology, aiming to create a unique experience that mixes elements of gaming and cinema.

The release date is unknown.
