Yesterday, the MP1ST portal reported that a remake of the classic Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past It would be under development, with launch scheduled for next year. Now journalist Jason Schreier has given evidence that information can be true.
In a post on social networks, Schreier stated that Square Enix intends to bring “As much as possible from the Dragon Quest series for modern platforms”. However, he stressed that this does not mean that all remakes will have the same level of ambition as Final Fantasy VII Remakesuggesting that the rumor that the remake of Dragon Quest VII It will be a large scope project may be incorrect.
“I think it’s safe to say that Square wants to redo as much of Dragon Quest games as possible for modern platforms. But that doesn’t mean everyone – or any of them – will be big and ambitious like FFVII’s remake.”
When a user asked if this means that the rumor that Dragon Quest VII would get a remake would be fake, the journalist commented that that was not what he said. “I didn’t say there’s no remake [de Dragon Quest VII]”he said.
From the journalist’s statements, it seems that the remake is really on Square Enix’s plans, but should follow a more contained scope-possibly adopting the HD-2D visual style ever seen in other recent franchise titles.
