The long-awaited trailer for the new GTA was revealed in December last year, bringing a brief look at the sequel and lots of exciting news that stoked fans’ hype. To the joy of many, Rockstar confirmed, this Thursday (16), that GTA 6 will be released in the spring (Brazilian) of 2025 — window referring to September and December of next year.
The news, confirmed by Take-Two in a fiscal year 2024 earnings call, is the light that fans needed after numerous rumors claiming that the sequel would only arrive in 2026 due to an alleged delay in development.
“Our outlook reflects a narrowing of the window previously established by Rockstar Games from the 2025 calendar to the fall [primavera brasileira] from 2025 to Grand Theft Auto VI“, said the publisher. “We are highly confident that Rockstar will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience and our expectations for the title’s commercial impact continue to rise.”

“We will have a renewed lot of interest with GTA 6 in particular. There has probably never been anything more important to release in the industry, so no pressure“, said the analyst to the British vehicle.
Well, fortunately, now we know that GTA 6 will be released between September and December 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version, however, has not yet been commented on by the studio — but, naturally, it will arrive on the platform later.
GTA 5 surpassed 200 million units sold
Another piece of good news shared by Take-Two on the earnings call was the confirmation that GTA 5 surpassed 200 million units sold since its launch in 2013.
According to previous figures, the game had sold 180 million units in March 2023. The fifth game has been at the top of the best-selling game lists in history since its original release.

Updated sales figures for GTA 5 also reiterate its sovereignty as one of the best-selling games in history — second only to Minecraftwith 300 million copies sold, and the legendary Tetriswith a respectable 520 million.
