We were recently invited by HoYoverse to travel to Mexico and play the 5.0 update early. Genshin Impact! The new content, which will be available on August 28, will add new characters, a new nation and much more.
The update introduces the nation called Natlan, which has numerous differences from the other areas of the game. The region has several references to Latin American culture, mainly from Mexico, with its greatest inspirations in pre-Columbian native civilizations.

Immediately, some of these details can be seen in the characters’ clothing and architecture, but the developer also drew from contemporary popular cultures — such as breakdancing and graffiti, delivering a unique and impressive combination.

New Genshin Impact Characters
To overcome these obstacles and move more organically between the regions of Natlan, three new characters with unique and very interesting abilities were introduced.
The first is Mualani, on hydro, who has a shark-shaped skateboard able to surf over both water and lava. I felt it had the smoothest locomotion of the three, but the lack of verticality can make certain places harder to access.
The second is Geo’s Kachina, who uses a small excavator to get around. Its best feature is climbing walls and mountains, making vertical exploration much easier.
And finally, Kinich, who uses a bow and arrow to launch himself through the air. It also facilitates vertical locomotion by activating small floating platforms. It may not be the smoothest, but it is certainly one of the most fun to use.

Even though they are more exploration characters, as the HoYoverse team told me, they worked well for some combat moments, especially when facing some very large monsters. Of course, it was necessary to have the help of another character besides the three, but it was possible to battle without much difficulty.
The Saurians
We were also able to test the gameplay of the Saurians, dragons that we can transform into to help us move around the region. There was only one available, but they really shortened the journey a lot due to their speed. It will be a great help for players!
Unfortunately, we didn’t have access to the main mission of the area, since it was blocked in the version we played, but the confrontations and secondary missions entertained me a lot in these almost two hours of gameplay.
Genshin Impact.
In addition to the new nation, version 5.0 also adds several quality-of-life improvements, such as a system to save bad luck in the gacha system, called Splendor Capture, as well as an option to decompose artifacts and turn them into Artifact Experience Material.
The update will be available for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and mobile devices on August 28.
