Gamestop sold for $ 250,000 the stapler that damaged a client’s switch 2

During the release of Nintendo Switch 2 in June, a Gamestop store in New York damaged consoles by stapling box receipts, piercing device screens.

After the event, Gamestop put for sale on Ebay the stapler responsible for the incident, along with the first damaged switch 2 (now repaired), the original box, the receipt and even the extracted staple.

Now the auction has finally been completed with a total of $ 250,000. All the amount collected will be donated to an organization that supports children’s hospitals.

Gamestop CEO Ryan Cohen promised to include his underwear in the auction if the offers exceeded six digits, which happened. He also offered to take the winner to a lunch at McDonald’s in Miami and personally deliver his underwear if the auction reached seven digits.

The auction attracted 282 throws and ended July 16, 2025, with Gamestop describing the initiative as its “corporate responsibility version”.
