If you are a dedicated MMO Final Fantasy XIV player and still use Windows 10, it’s time to consider changing the operating system, as the game will no longer support this version released in 2015.
Square Enix has announced, through the game’s official website, that from October 14, 2025 the Windows 10 support will be closed. The decision was made due to the fact that Microsoft will no longer launch security updates to this operating system.
Despite the end of the support, the company states that players ‘probably’ will be able to continue playing on Windows 10, but will not receive more official assistance to possible problems related to the system.
The official statement says:
“Support at Final Fantasy XIV for Windows 10 will be closed on October 14, 2025.
Microsoft will no longer provide safety and support updates to Windows 10 PCs after October 14, 2025, so we conclude that continuing to support this operating system is a difficult task.
You will probably still be able to play Final Fantasy XIV on Windows 10 systems even after the end of the support. However, after the support of the support, as a general rule, we can no longer support problems arising from the operating system.
Square Enix may respond to technical support requests related to Windows 10 questions after the end of the support, but this informal support will be limited, evaluated on a case by case basis, and not guaranteed.
Also, to track this change, system requirements (SO/CPU) for the Windows version will be updated on October 14, 2025. We thank you for your understanding and continuous support. ”
As previously announced by Microsoft, as of October 14, 2025, Windows 10 will no longer receive regular support, which means there will be no more bug corrections or free security updates.
