Bungie and PlayStation have announced a “Marathon Collector’s Edition” of Marathon, which will be available, like the game, from March 5th for the price of 199.99 euros in Portugal. However, this edition does not include the game.
Manufactured by PureArts Ltd in collaboration with Bungie, this edition features a 1/6th scale Thief Runner Capsule statue with LED lights powered by a USB cable, but according to PlayStation Direct, this content-packed edition does not include the game, not even in digital format. When the edition was announced we were unable to clearly understand this detail, but now the information appears clearly in PlayStation Direct.
This means that players interested in purchasing the collector’s edition of Marathon and the game will have to pay approximately 239 euros to obtain the exclusive contents of the edition and the game itself. Bungie is already known for presenting expensive collector’s editions full of content, but the absence of the game could leave many players frowning.
Taking into account the situation of Marathon, harshly criticized online as an unnecessary game that is even creating adversity for Destiny 2 within Bungie itself, it does not seem like the best gesture to leave the consumer of a 199 euro edition without the game itself.
Here are the contents of the box according to PS Direct:
- Collectible Physical Collectible Set Contents of the Collector’s Edition:
- 1/6 Scale Thief Statue with LED Lights
- USB-A to USB-C charging cable 1 meter long
- Collectible Silkworm Miniature
- Iron-on Embroidered Badge
- 6 illustrated postcards
- Premium hexagonal packaging with lenticular poster
- Display box with beautiful design and environmental art
- Collector’s Edition digital products:
