Did The First Descendant plagiarize Destiny 2? Developer responds to accusations

Nexon’s new free-to-play shooter, The First Descendantbrings a proposal in the best style Destinyin which several characters join forces to explore dungeons and defeat relentless bosses. However, these comparisons to Bungie’s game ended up resulting in allegations of alleged plagiarism.

It all started with a recent report from Forbeswhere journalist Paul Tassi draws some parallels between The First Descendant e Destiny 2. In the survey, Tassi notes that several icons from both games are actually very similar — not to mention the design of the Different Dream weapon, which is clearly inspired by the IKELOS sniper from Bungie’s shooter.

Nexon is taking the “concerns seriously”

Following the backlash from Tassi’s report, Nexon said it “took the concerns raised seriously” and will make “adjustments to ensure that images that may appear similar clearly reflect the unique identity of The First Descendant“.

“The First Descendantas a shooter and loot game, was developed with deep care and respect for other games in the genre,” the publisher said. “Destiny 2being a world-renowned shooter and looter, is also personally admired and respected by the team, and served as inspiration during the development process.”

With that, apparently, Nexon intends to release some update in the future to make the necessary adjustments to these similarity issues highlighted by Tassi — however, the date of when this should happen has not yet been revealed.
