After being responsible for reinventing the God of War franchise in 2018, Cory Barlog left director following God of War Ragnarok to devote himself to a new project – which promises to be Santa Monica Studio’s first new IP in many years.
So far, there is no official information about the game, but it seems that development is at a good pace. The information comes from journalist Jason Schreier, who recently revealed that, the last time he heard about the project about two months ago, he “was doing well” and will be “the next big release of the studio.”
“Jason Schreier: Cory Barlog’s game is Santa Monica Studio’s next big project. Last time I talked to someone about it (a month or two), the development was doing well.”
We still don’t know exactly what this new IP is about, but rumors point to a science fiction franchise with futuristic setting. Santa Monica Studio jobs also suggest that the game will have puzzles, combat, exploration and RPG elements.
While Santa Monica prepares a new IP, rumors also claim that the God of War franchise will soon return with a new game, which should have a smaller scope and be set again in Greece.
And you, are you excited to see what Cory Barlog has been working for so long? Tell us in the comments!
