Counter-Strike is one of the most popular shooting games on the market, which is part of the childhood and adolescence of many players, while still firm and strong with its Counter-Strike 2 version.

Minh Le, known as Gooseman, co-cried counter-strike at the age of 20, initially as a mod for half-life, along with Jess Cliffe. The game started as a mod in 1999 and was purchased by Valve in 2000.

At one point, Minh Le left Valve after trying to develop a sequence, Counter-Strike 2.0. His desire was to create something even more innovative, but Valve believed that the original game was already a success and did not want to mess with balance. Le ended up leaving the company, something she regrets today.

“I was talking to Gabe and some of the company’s bosses, and we came to the conclusion that I couldn’t work in a game that I could shape the same way I shaped Counter-Strike,” Le. “We both realized that Counter-Strike had reached its peak. It was impossible to change anything, because the community was already very used to it. I really wanted to create different resources.”

“It was a friendly decision,” says Le. “They didn’t force me to come out or anything. But a part of me kind of regrets. Looking back, my decision to leave Valve was financially a kind of bad choice. If I had been in the valve, I could be retired now. But I chose a harder way. I left on my own, I made some bad decisions in business, worked with companies and troubled people. But I learned a lot and managed to grow as a game developer.

“I’m glad Counter-Strike is a success and that people are playing. It’s not the audience I imagined playing when I created the game, but that they enjoy. If there’s something in the game they like to do, that’s good.”

Currently, Minh Le works with the last ratio in Alpha Response.
