Since leaving the direction of the franchise God of War Following the release of the 2018 game, many fans wondered which Cory Barlog project would be working on. Although previous rumors indicated that it would be a new science fiction IP, this theory may be about to fall apart.
After commenting earlier today that the development of Cory’s new IP would be progressing well, journalist Jason Schreier has returned to the subject and threw a question in the air: Is it really a new IP?
“Why do everyone think Barlog’s game is a new intellectual property?”commented Jason in response to the users excited about the premise of a new studio IP. Considering that he claims to have talked to sources about the project for only 2 months, the journalist should be aware of what the project is about.
The comment rekindled debates about what exactly Cory would be developing. Some speculate the possibility of a new God of War – which has divided opinions: while some hope for a return from the series under Barlog, others prefer to see something totally unprecedented.
In this context, an old statement of the director returned to light. In 2020, Cory revealed that he wanted to see a single-play game based on The Mandalorian of the Star Wars universe. The idea aligns both with the rumors of a SCI-Fi game and the good relationship between Sony and Disney when it comes to adaptations for games.
