In April 2023, Sony acquired Firewalk Studios, a North American developer made up of veterans of Destiny e Apex Legends. Well, it looks like the first big fruit of this partnership is coming: Concorda 5v5 shooter in the best style Overwatch which will be released for PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23.
The revelation took place at State of Play last Thursday (30), where the new Sony game was introduced by Asad Qizilbash, executive responsible for the PlayStation Studios brand.
The cinematic trailer for Concord is set in the chaotic Crater City, where a group of very different misfits have just one mission: collect a small robot known as “Blue Buddy” and escape.
With dialogue full of moments Guardians of the Galaxythe shooter seems to offer an experience very similar to Overwatch — at the same time that it features very peculiar characters with characteristics that impact the gameplay in some way. Check out the trailer:

Em Concord, you play as the crew of the Northstar, a group of mercenaries known throughout the galaxy as the Freegunners. They travel the stars taking risky jobs on worlds across the Bravio, where they face other extremely competitive Freegunner crews.
From match to match, you will form your team of Freegunners together with other players and face rival crews on a wide variety of maps and modes to take home the prize.
Some of the characters include Vale, a mine shooter; Haymar, who can blind targets and launch fire projectiles with a crossbow; and Star Child, a berserker who can absorb damage — as well as several others.
To create Concord, Firewalk was inspired by strategy titles and fighting games, with asymmetrical characters and improvised gameplay. The intention, apparently, is to provide an “exciting and unexpected” experience of good multiplayer.

“The Firewalk team is driven by the kinds of exciting, unexpected moments and shared experiences that multiplayer games create,” wrote the studio’s game director, Ryan Ellis, in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
“Every time you log in is the beginning of a new adventure, and every match is an opportunity for a new story. It is these ideals that define Concordits unique universe of vibrant worlds and its rich cast of colorful characters,” he concluded.
Concord will have beta in July
Concord will be released on August 23rd for PS5 and PCwith a pre-launch beta scheduled for July — but no set date yet. Pre-orders begin on June 6th on the PS Store and Steam, offering cosmetics and beta access for up to four friends.
