Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 new leaks explained

The recent reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has caused quite a stir in the franchise’s community, with fans eager to learn more about what the game will have to offer. The project’s brief reveal trailer focused primarily on the campaign, though the game’s semi-futuristic Zombies and multiplayer modes have been met with just as much anticipation. While it seemed like it would be a while before more information about the game surfaced, a recent leak has provided the community with a fresh wave of details.

Treyarch recently accidentally leaked some interesting information about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, publicly revealing what was intended to be an internal message from the developers. This message was briefly broadcast on the official Call of Duty Xbox app , in the form of screenshots of the
game’s multiplayer and its unique game modes . These screenshots were apparently meant to be shown alongside some closed internal testing that’s being conducted for Black Ops 7, with the reveal giving players an unintended preview of the multiplayer experience.

Fans were quick to share these leaked Black Ops 7 images, with the screenshots being posted by the account CharlieIntel X. The loadout and general appearance of the multiplayer operators that are featured in these screenshots seem very much in line with Black Ops 7’s 2030s setting, being more futuristic than Black Ops 2 but not as sci-fi heavy as Black Ops 3. Classic Black Ops killstreaks like the RC-XD appear in the screenshots, as does a robotic dog-like ground unit that could play similarly to Black Ops 3’s Cerberus killstreak.

Players can also be seen diving in different directions in these leaked screenshots, echoing reports that Black Ops 7 would adopt an
evolved omni-movement system rather than introduce features like wall-running or jetpack mechanics. The most important information that can be gleaned from these screenshots comes from its related game modes, with two exclusive multiplayer modes being unintentionally revealed by Treyarch.

The first leaked game mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is called
Skirmish , which will see two teams of 20 players “battling it out to complete objectives across a large map.” These objectives will apparently come in the form of capture points, destructible payloads, and data transmissions. Crucially, it’s even mentioned that players will be able to use wingsuits to quickly traverse these expansive Skirmish maps. Of course, large-scale matches have been a controversial element of CoD multiplayer in recent years, but a return to 20v20 gameplay could be a big way for Black Ops 7 to try and differentiate itself from Black Ops 6.

Wingsuits have appeared in the Black Ops franchise before, such as in the Black Ops 2 campaign and Black Ops 4’s Blackout BR mode, with Black Ops 7 continuing that tradition.

The second leaked mode for Black Ops 7 is called Overload , and it’s a more traditional 6v6 experience. According to the screenshots, Overload has players fighting for control of an EMP device that needs to be delivered to the enemy HQ in order to score. This could be similar to a simple reverse capture the flag mode, or it could even be similar to Black Ops 3’s Uplink, in that players can throw the device between teammates and into the capture zone.

These leaked game modes seem like good ways for Black Ops 7 to establish its own identity away from its immediate predecessor, with this undoubtedly being its top priority. While Skirmish and Overload look like exciting additions to CoD 2025’s offerings, it seems Treyarch still has plenty to reveal about Black Ops 7’s multiplayer, campaign, and Zombies mode in the coming months. Thankfully, these leaks are certainly just a taste of what’s to come.
