Ubisoft has tried to adapt the Assassin’s Creed franchise to other formats, but without much success – the 2016 film, starring Michael Fassbender, ended up not winning the audience. Now a new production is underway.

As revealed by the Variety Portal, Ubisoft’s partnership with Netflix to produce a Live Action series by Assassin’s Creed is finally leaving the paper. Announced in 2020, the project underwent several versions, but has now gained a definite course. The adaptation will feature Roberto Patino (DMZ) and David Wiener (Halo) as showrunners.

The duo commented on the series:

“We have been fans of Assassin’s Creed since its launch in 2007. Every day we have worked in this series, we are excited and humble in the face of the possibilities that Assassin’s Creed offers us. Behind the scale, the spectacle, parkour and adrenaline, there is a basis for the most essential type of human narrative-about people in search of purpose, fighting, destiny and faith. Sex, greed and revenge. But, above all, this is a series about the value of the human connection – between cultures, over time.

The series will bring a narrative focused on a secret war between two factions that act in the shadows. “One side seeks to determine the future of humanity through control and manipulation, while the other struggles to preserve free will. The series accompanies its characters throughout crucial historical events, while waging a battle to shape the fate of humanity.”says the synopsis.
