Medicom Toy from Japan announced two incredible new “Artists” (Vinyl Collectible Dolls) VCD dolls by two artists who marked “pop art” in different decades: the geniuses Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.
The dolls were created and designed by Eric So, a Hong Kong artist and designer recognized for his innovative approach to Toy Art toys, art and sculptures. Considered a pioneer in the art of urban vinyl, he combines pop culture with traditional artistic techniques, creating iconic works that often pay homage to legends such as Bruce Lee and others.
The Andy Warhol by Eric So VCD Doll captures the fantastic artist with a classic look, wearing an all-black suit with a turtleneck shirt, mismatched glasses with painted blue eyes, and white and black hair.
The Keith Haring by Eric So VCD Doll depicts the New York graphic artist and activist with receding hairlines and wearing a sweatshirt, red shirt and blue pants. Comes with the same pair of glasses with blue dots painted on the lenses.
The two non-articulated dolls are made with high quality vinyl and measure 20 cm tall each. They have been officially licensed by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Keith Haring Foundation Artestar.
Each doll will cost JPY¥19,800 (US$130) in Japanese stores and is scheduled to be released in 2024.
