After participating in the production of the first two seasons, even directed some episodes, Neil Druckmann recently announced that he will leave HBO’s The Last of Us series to focus on his work at Naughty Dog.

Commenting on the departure of Druckmann, Casey Bloys, the current HBO CEO, did not show much concern about the fact. According to him, the developer has left a “good base” for the series to follow in the future and has confidence that will be in great hands with Craig Mazin.

“Obviously, it was great to have Neil involved in the beginning. The main reason I wanted to do ‘The Last of Us’ was that after ‘Chernobyl’, I asked Craig [Mazin]: ‘What do you want to do next?’ And ‘The Last of Us’ was what he wanted to do. Most important to me was Craig’s creative enthusiasm in relation to the series. It was fantastic to have the Neil involved. Many people do not realize that Neil has a full -time job creating games and running Naughty Dog. It’s a really big job what he does. So I understand why he needs to focus on it. But I believe he left us a good base with the series. And obviously Craig is a professional, so I think we’ll be in great hands. I’m not at all worried. ”

Just yesterday, the second season of The Last of Us was named 16 Emmy Awards, including the best drama series, as well as Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal as best actors.
