The news about the cancellation of Perfect Dark was undoubtedly a huge “punch in the stomach”, both for the developers and for the players who are waiting for the return of this classic franchise.
The cancellation of Perfect Dark affected not only the developers at the now-defunct studio The Initiative, but also at least one actor: Elias Toufexis, best known for voicing Adam Jensen in Deus Ex: Human.
Through his social networks, Elias Toufexis shared with everyone his frustration with the cancellation of Perfect Dark, mentioning that he lost thousands of dollars.
“These game cancellations are a constant threat. I had several days of acting on Perfect Dark that were simply scrapped. Thousands of dollars that I was hoping and counting on were gone in the blink of an eye. Now, every game I work on as a director or actor, I wake up hoping it won’t be canceled.”
“I want to add that I am a freelancer on a per-project basis and have other games and series in progress. The developers, designers and writers were employees and are now unemployed. This is happening far too often.”
Elias Toufexis clarified that he was paid for the time he worked on Perfect Dark. However, he had a set number of days each month in which he could not dedicate himself to other projects.
In any case, the situation is so serious that it has left Elias Toufexis so frustrated that he now wakes up hoping that the projects he is working on will not be suddenly canceled.
Remembering that in addition to Perfect Dark being canceled, the studio The Initiative was closed.
