Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios announced two new games in the series, marking the franchise’s 30th anniversary. Lara Croft, the most famous archaeologist in video games, is ready for new adventures, this time with different projects: a remake of the original classic and a new main game. The announcement was made during The Game Awards 2025.
The first game, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, will be a reimagining of the first game in the series. It’s not just about improved graphics: the game promises new mechanics, redesigned scenarios and the same essence that made the original so remarkable. Lara will explore exotic locations such as Peru, Greece and Egypt in search of the lost pieces of the Scion artifact. For those who have always wanted to revisit the 90s classic with modern technology, this game seems like the perfect opportunity.
The second game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, is a completely new story for 2027. In this game, Lara faces the consequences of a mythical cataclysm with ancient secrets. The narrative involves a race against other treasure hunters and promises to challenge players’ intelligence and dexterity. The new game will explore varied and dangerous environments, without losing the inspiration of adventure and exploration that characterizes the series.
Having two major Tomb Raider games announced at the same time is very rare. One looks to the past, revisiting the original story, and the other looks to the future, continuing the Lara Croft universe.
