The Order: 1886 was one of the first exclusive released for the PlayStation 4, being a game made mainly to show the hardware power of the device, looking like a technical demonstration.
One of the greatest criticisms involving The Order: 1886 is its extremely short duration, with the main story lasting only 7 hours to complete.
The truth is that The Order: 1886 could have been much longer, but developer Ready at Dawn had to cut content to release the game on time. This information was confirmed by the studio founder himself, Ru Weerasuriya.
“The duration of the game, this was something that many people commented at the time. We cut… I mean, about 30% of the game a few months before release. We decided that he needed to leave on time. If it were to do it again, I would probably have tried to find a way to extend the development. It was only three and a half years to create the game from scratch. ”
“As I understood, Sony needed that game to be released. So we made some sacrifices. But we really had hope to make a continuation after that. I already had, in my head, the story for the second and the third game. We already had it all planned. But unfortunately, what happened.”
Although this information is not new, the goal was to work with sequences of The Order: 1886, which would have a multiplayer mode, which would originally be in the first game, but was discarded during development.
In the end, The Order: 1886 did not do very commercially and never won a sequence. Today the game is still remembered by its visuals and history.
