The year 2025 has been phenomenal for games. The industry has everything, driven by new technologies, as well as a diversity of games that serve all tastes, but not everything has come out as expected, with games that just disappointed.
In this first half of 2025, we expected great adventures and innovations in the releases. However, certain titles only disappointed, either by repetition of mechanics, technical problems or simply for failing to deliver what they announced.
MindsEye
A long -awaited title that promised to be the game that would soften the wait for Grand Theft Auto VI, featuring an impressive open world and ambitious mission.
However, when launched, Mindseye had only empty streets, NPC without reaction, and mission design that served only to throw the title in the limbo of disappointment. The studio hasn’t given up yet, but the community yes.
FBC: Firebreak
With seal of quality Remedy Entertainment, FBC: Firebreak could be a good game, but the cooperative shooter even excited at first, but repetition comes fast.
In a few hours of FBC: Firebreak you will see just about everything the game has to offer. At the moment, there are few scenarios, similar/repeated enemies and exaggerated grind to unlock equipment.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
It sounds like a joke, but this year we had the launch of a new Fatal Fury that only served to disappoint the longtime community. After more than two decades of waiting, fans longed for City of the Wolves.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves even has good fighting and visual mechanics, but disappointed by a weak RPG way and few heavy characters in the cast, frustrating fans despite the potential.
Splitgate 2
The first splitgate was quite popular, with many calling the “Halo Killer” game, so Hype by the sequence was very high, but in the end it was just a cold water bath with a weak game.
Splitgate 2 turned out to be limited to having only three fixed classes and repetitive gameplay, frustrating players even with a good variety of weapons, maps and modes. The game also got into controversy with its marketing.
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny
Onimusha is a classic Capcom franchise that returned in 2025 with a remaster to get the attention of new and old fans, but this remastering but disappointed what it pleased.
In this remaster, there is only a slight shortcut of weapons exchange and extra difficulty modes, nothing that justifies revisiting nobunaga in a relaunch. The look is beautiful, but without weight news.
The chimera
Upon being announced, La Quimera drew a lot of attention because it is a title of the former Metro developers (from the 4th Games). Despite the history, the project was disappointed well on the day of its launch.
La Quimera promised a cooperative FPS full of action, but disappointed with dull combat and weak history, and still suffered from postponement on the day of launch, making it easily forgotten by the public.
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad
Game of Thrones’ IP has received several games over the years, and most of them were simpler titles, being strategy or focused on the mobile market, until in the end came Game of Thrones: Kingsroad.
Many fans wanted a full RPG for PC and consoles, no longer a mobile phone game for iOS/Android. To make matters worse Game of Thrones: Kingsroad features dated models and animated cycles that resemble past generation titles, one of the largest disappointments of 2025 so far.
