Silently. That was how the Valve acted to change the tickrate of the servers CS 2. An update that was not included in last Wednesday’s patch notes (13) was discovered by the community and will affect the tickrate of servers on other platforms.
Seems like CS2 hardcoded the tickrate in the client binary, so even if server binary is patched (they got rid of GetTickInterval function which made this easy), it shouldn’t matter.
Valve should be improving stuff that is subpar, rather than bruteforcing it with 128 tick.

The change was on CS 2 servers. The update will force servers on platforms such as Gamers Club, FACEIT, ESEA and others to use the default configuration of Valve’s official servers.
The idea is to give the game a single standard wherever it is, so the player will always have the same experience when playing a game of CS 2. Even though the platform has its own settings, the games will be run using Valve’s standard.
